JU guardians concerned over deadlock at business admin department
JU Correspondent
Around 25 guardians yesterday expressed grave concern over the existing deadlock at business administration department of Jahangirnagar University (JU).They also urged the authorities concerned to take immediate steps to meet the demands of the students to bring them back to classroom. "Why my child is out of classroom? Asked Nurul Islam, a guardian, saying that a teacher must be an ideal man who cannot behave indecently with female students. Speaking at the guardian solidarity meeting organised by the students on the campus, he said the authorities must take action against the accused teacher by showing an honour to the complaint of the students. "We have sent our loving child to the university to be educated. Protest against unethical acts is also part of education," said Jahangir Hossain, another guardian and former student of JU. "When students who honour their teachers more than their parents bring such allegations against a teacher, that should be handled with parental care," said a mother. The guardians also met the authorities concerned at the department to know the present situation. All classes and examinations of the department remain snapped since September 22 as the students boycotted all academic activities demanding removal of the teacher for his indecent behaviour with female students. The agitating students also brought out a procession on the campus to press home their demand. Jahangirnagar Theatre staged a drama titled 'Jantu' at Muktamancha (Amphitheatre) in support of the ongoing agitation. Separate processions from all the 11 dormitories including the female ones will be taken out today to press home the demand for the removal of the teacher.
