AMCH observes Oct as cancer awareness month


Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital (AMCH), a project of Dhaka Ahsania Mission, has drawn up an elaborate programme to observe this October as Cancer Awareness Month.

President and Chief Executive of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Kazi Rafiqul Alam announced the month-long programme at a press conference at its headquarters in the city.

He said the mission will organise screening for breast cancer at 50 percent discount throughout the month at AMCH at Mirpur.

It will also form human chain in front of High Court, hold discussion on breast cancer at selected girls school and college and run awareness campaign through its 800 mass centres in seven districts.

The mission will organise a roundtable on the 'Role of media to create awareness about breast cancer' on October 10.

The speakers said of all the cancers, women suffer mostly from the breast cancer, and the risk increases with the increase of their age.

They said there is nothing to be panicked about breast cancer if it is diagnosed at an early stage and can be cured within a short time through surgical operation.

Ex-health secretary and Managing Director of the mission M Fazlur Rahman, Director Prof Md Abdul Hye and Director Prof Nurul Islam spoke at the press conference.
