"And the winner is...": The audience and contestants waited with bated breath as the long awaited grand finale of the beauty pageant Lux Channel i Super Star (LCSS) got underway on September 30. Eventually the results were out: the winner was Shanarei Devi Shanu. The first runner up was Antora Biswas Pinki from Sylhet and the second runner up was Navila Hasan from Dhaka. On the same day a press conference was held at Club Amazon, Dhaka to introduce the champion, runner-up and 2nd runner-up of the LCSS talent hunt event to journalists and media personalities. Asked about her instant reaction to winning the LCSS crown, Shanu said, "It is the best day of my life. I still can't believe I've won the crown. It was really a tough competition. I would try to use this platform to generate positive social messages to the masses." About the concept of beauty she said, "Beauty is not only skin deep. A real beauty is beautiful inside out." Talking about her future plans, an ecstatic Shanu stated, "I want to pursue a modeling career. Besides that I want to polish my acting skills thoroughly and then make it to the mini screen. I don't have any plans to act in mainstream films at present. However, if I get an offer to do a film that has a credible script, I may take it up." The judges seem content with the champion. Subarna Mustafa said, "Her performance was outstanding and she really charmed us." Shamim Ara Nipa said, "She will go far as she has potentials." "Bangladesh has found a real star and we are proud to be a part of this process," said Tariq Anam Khan. The first runner-up Antora's views echoed that of Shanu. She said, "Beauty is a quality that is reflected from within. It's the realisation of self-worth, love and acceptance of one's unaltered self." About her hopes and aspirations, the second runner-up, Navila said, "I want to pursue modeling as a full time career." Nadia F Amin, Brand Manager of Unilever Bangladesh added, "This extravaganza will open doors to fame and potential careers for the lucky winners. The new faces introduced at the competition, hopefully, will contribute to the cultural arena of the country. This is the beginning; a long and exciting journey lies ahead. The LCSS contest is not simply a talent hunt or a beauty contest. Charisma, confidence, stage presence and overall performance are evaluated by the esteemed judges. We believe that our partnership with a dynamic channel like Channel i takes the event to new heights and provided enormous opportunities to women in search of stardom." This year, the fate of the contestants rested not only in the hands of the judges, but also on the viewers. From the 2nd round till the grand finale, the audience got the chance to vote for their favorite contestant through SMS. This ensured that the winners were both the judges' and the people's choice.
