CPB urges people

Leaders of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) yesterday urged the people to unite to oust the government and make the October 16 sit-in programme a success.The one-hour sit-in programme will be held on the streets across the country with the slogan 'Resist monga, reduce prices of essentials and save lives'. The leaders demanded sufficient relief to the monga- and flood-hit people at a meeting held at the Party Central Office in the city. The economic and social policy of the alliance government led to the price hike, bomb blast, murder, terrorism, corruption and damage of industry and agriculture throughout the country, they said. The leaders also demanded judicial probe and exemplary punishment to the perpetrators of countrywide bomb blasts. CPB General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim said during the four-year rule of four- party alliance, government's misrule has been established. "Imperialism and communalism is the main force of the activities of the government and we have to make the country free form these evil activities," he added. CPB leaders Ruhin Hossain Prince, Sazzad Zahir Chandan, Ahsan Habib Lavlu and Joly Talukdar also spoke the meeting.
