He was arrested after Mithapukur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mokbul Hossen filed a case for anomaly in the sale of subsidised rice.

The UNO told The Daily Star that during a visit to Milonpur UP complex on Friday, some benificiaries complained that the UP chairman gave each card holder 5.5 kg in place of 6 kg and charged Tk 25 instead of Tk 24.

An investigation into the matter proved the allegation.

The arrested UP chairman was sent to Rangpur jail and UP food godowen was locked.
