Additional Police Super of Dhaka Amjad Hossain was closed at the police headquarters and Officer-in charge of Savar Police Station Tariq Kamal was suspended yesterday on charge of attempting to misappropriate Tk 1.80 crore of Uttara group.Sub-Inspector Ibrahim Khalil, who was suspended earlier, was arrested and sent to prison yesterday. Police said they were looking for Ashulia camp in-charge Sub-Inspector Aminul Islam who went into hiding while Savar circle ASP Ashiq Sayeed was kept under strict vigilance in connection with the same offence. Savar Police Station second officer Shawkat Ali yesterday filed a case of attempt to misappropriate the money of Uttara group against two suspended police officers and five police sources Zahirul chairman, Abu Taher, Monir Hossain, Sona Mia and Zakir Hossain. An official of Uttara Group, an established business firm based in Noapara, Jessore, was coming to Dhaka on Saturday in a jeep with Tk 2.38 crore when police at Ashulia check post held him, took the money on plea of involvement in hundi trade. Later, part of the money was returned. Girilal Modi is the owner of Uttara Group.
