DU Mourning Day today

Dhaka University Mourning Day will be observed today to commemorate the death of 39 students and employees in a building collapse at the Jagannath Hall in 1985.The DU authorities have drawn up various programmes, including placing wreaths at the memorial to the victims on the hall premises, wearing black badges, hoisting black and varsity flags atop all dormitories and administrative buildings and taking out a mourning procession. The Jagannath Hall authorities will arrange a blood donation programme at 11:00am and a painting exhibition. The hall authorities will also arrange an intra-hall 'October Smrity Tournament' this year on the occasion. A discussion meeting will also be held at the Jagannath Hall auditorium on November 24.
