The seminar titled, 'Repression on Journalists in Southern Region and Remedy' was jointly organised by Barisal Reporters' Unity and Bangladesh Centre for Development Journalism and Communication (BCDJC) while it was financed by the Government of Denmark.

Reporters' Unity president Mir Moniruzzaman presided over the seminar.

The journalists were urged to prepare news based on reality, truth and impartiality on items.

Dainik Samokal reporter Shawkot Milton presented the key-note paper.

Hemayet Uddin Himu, Akash Sikder, Hasan Jhantu, Jewel, Ismail Hossain Magabon, Ziaul Huq Litu, Nikhil Chatterjee, Pulok Chatterjee, Dr Sunil Baran Halder, Nasimul Alam and Eftekher Ahmed were the discussants.
