JU Correspondent
The Jahangirnagar University (JU) syndicate will meet today to decide over the fate of the teacher of Department of Business Administration (DBA) as the probe-body found him guilty. The probe-body, formed to investigate a series of allegations against the teacher, submitted its report on October 28 after taking statements of around 60 concerned students and teachers. Of the allegations, the teacher was found guilty in two specific allegations based on the information provided by the victims and the department's students. The allegations include indecent behaviour with female students and carrying out anarchical rules in academic activities. The probe-body will also recommend forwarding the issue to disciplinary committee in which involvement of a student of 2000-2001 academic sessions was also found. He was found guilty of assisting the teacher to behave indecently with female students. "There should be no hesitation in taking action against the teacher as most of the allegations proved true," said a probe-body member seeking anonymity. Tanvir Ahmad Siddique, a newly appointed lecturer of the business administration department, behaved indecently with some of the female students of the department and started non-cooperation with the male students who protested such occurrences, forcing them to launch a movement. All academic activities of the department remained suspended since September 22 as the students continued their class and examination boycott as of yesterday.
