Akter Hossain, 41, a First Class Contractor of LGED, his wife Sabrine Akter Julie, 27, and their daughter Arna, 3, were killed in their house on the night of August 10 by killers allegedly hired by his elder brother.

Yesterday's meeting was presided over by DC Muhammad Saidur Rahman. Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Banamali Bhaumik, the Police Superintendent and the Sadar thana OC were also present, among others, at the meeting.

Police sources said Investigation Officer (IO) of the case has already framed charge against eight persons. They are Akter's elder brother Sirajul Islam, two nephews Suhel Rana and Rajib Ahmed, and 'killers' Masum Mia, Kabir Hossain, Pias Mia, Jamir Hossain alias Jamir and Manik Mia.

All the accused except Manik are in custody. Manik is absconding, police said.

Police submitted charge sheet in the case on Wednesday.

Police recorded statements of 38 witnesses so far, they said.

Meanwhile, three of the alleged killer have made confessional statements under Section 164 before a Magistrate.

In the charge sheet, police said Akter and his family were killed by his elder brother to capture his property.

It said Siraj and his two sons hired professional killers at Tk two lakh. Of the amount, Tk one lakh was given to the killers in advance and the rest was given after the murders were done. But the killing came to light as the killers fell apart over share of the money.

All the killer were waiting on Medda Alia Madrasa ground at dead of night on August 10.

Suhel and Rajib brought them to the spot from there.

They had entered Akter's bedroom by breaking the door of the rooftop staircase of his house, killed them while they were asleep and escaped through the same broken door.
