Rail link restored


Rail communications between Dhaka and the eastern region of the country resumed yesterday after remaining snapped for eight hours following a collision between two passenger trains near Amirganj rail station under Narshingdi district.

Railway control room at Bhairab said at least 100 people were injured in the accident that took place at about 10:25pm on Tuesday. The injured were admitted to Narshingdhi Sadar Hospital and different private clinics for treatment.

Rail communications on the Dhaka-Chittagong, Dhaka-Sylhet and Dhaka-Noakhali routes resumed at 6:43am yesterday after a relief train from Dhaka removed the two damaged trains from the rail track.
