The dead identified as Md Yakub, 25, was the youngest son of late Shahabuddin Sowdagar of Bhara Pukur Par at South Nalapara, police said.

Police quoting victim's relatives said the murder took place at around 11:30pm on Tuesday. Yakub was gossiping with others in front of his residence when suddenly some unidentified youths came there and attacked him with knives. They stabbed him twice on his left chest and fled away hurriedly leaving him seriously injured in a pool of blood.

Relatives, on hearing hue and cry, rushed to the scene and sent Yakub in unconscious state to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where the on-duty doctors pronounced him dead.

Police suspect that Yakub was a drug addict.

No case was filed till filing of this report yesterday afternoon.
