48 joint secys promoted out of 81 qualified


Forty-eight joint secretaries have been promoted to the posts of the additional secretary.

A government gadget was circulated in this regard yesterday after the approval of the prime minister.

Sources said the promoted officials were selected from the 1973, 77, 79 and 81 batches. Forty-two of them are from administration cadre and the rest from other cadres.

As many as 81 officials had been qualified for the promotion, but 33 of them including 17 joint secretaries from the 1973 batch were not promoted.

Superior Selection Board met thrice to select the promotion list, with the last one being held yesterday.

Earlier in 2003, 97 joint secretaries were promoted as additional secretaries.
