Unknown criminals blasted a bomb in front of a pick-up van waiting for passengers in the city's Gulshan area yesterday evening, injuring a woman and a minor boy.No one however could tell who hurled the bomb and who was the target. Sathi, 30, a resident of Mohammadpur and manager of a beauty parlour in Gulshan sustained minor injuries to her back and the boy, aged about eight, received injuries to right heel. Sathi was waiting at Gulshan-2 roundabout for a bus and the boy along with his mother was passing by when the bomb exploded around 6.30pm. "I was waiting for a bus. Suddenly there was a big sound and I felt something hitting my back," said an apparently traumatised Sathi. Nazrul Islam, who was crossing the road when the bomb went off, told The Daily Star he saw something falling in front of the pick-up van. The windshield of the vehicle broke into pieces as the bomb exploded. "The driver quickly backed the vehicle up and the passengers got down from it. The panic-stricken people began to run helter-skelter," Islam, a bus helper, said. Intelligence personnel who rushed to the spot after the blast told reporters that it was a small homemade bomb.
