Ahmaddiya mosque signboard removed

Tension is running high in Khulna city as unidentified miscreants pulled down the signboard from the Ahmaddiya Mosque Complex at Nirala residential area.

According to the residents of Nirala, the signboard was pulled down on Friday midnight.

The incident triggered high tension among the members of Ahmaddiya community and International Khatme Nabuat Movement Bangladesh (IKNMB) and they confronted each other at Nirala yesterday morning.

Informed, police rushed to the spot at 7:30am and brought the situation under control. Police also helped the Ahmaddiyas to hang the signboard again.

Local people dreaded that a bloody violence would erupt as IKNMB activists have threatened to demolish the Nirala Ahmaddiya mosque.

IKNMB has been demanding that the government declare the Ahmaddiyas as non-muslim for a long time.

Security forces have been deployed in the spot to tackle any untoward incident.
