AL to send a letter to UN for probe help
Says Hasina on bomb attacks
Bdnews, Dhaka
Leader of the Opposition Sheikh Hasina yesterday said the Awami League would send a letter to the United Nations (UN) seeking assistance to probe bomb terrorism by militants. Pointing out that "UN probe was conducted in Lebanon", the AL president said the government should take the initiative. But since the government's role about terrorism is controversial it might not seek the UN help, Hasina told reporters on ferry at Mawa on her way back to Dhaka from her two-day visit to Gopalganj, Tungipara and Khulna. "The government has already finished all procedures to rig polls as it has become sure of its defeat in the next general election", she said. The voter list is being prepared to loot Tk 164 crore, she alleged. The decision for fresh electoral roll is illegal as the decision was taken unilaterally by the chief election commissioner (CEC), ignoring the note of dissent by the remaining two other commissioners. On their possibility to go for a legal action against the decision, Hasina said lawyers are working to this end. Referring to the bomb terrorism and rise of militancy, she alleged it is nothing but an evil effort of the government to divert people's attention from the real problem the country is faced with.
