First hajj flight leaves today


The first hajj flight of the Biman Bangladesh Airlines leaves for Jeddah today carrying 272 pilgrims.

Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is expected to open the first of 86 flights at Zia International Airport.

The national flag-carrier will ferry 2,621 pilgrims and flights will run up to January 4.

The ballottee pilgrims have deposited $950 and the non-ballottee $1,050 each. A 576-seater Boeing-747-300 aircraft chartered by Biman is also ready to fly.

Another 387-seater chartered airbus330-300 is expected to arrive Dhaka by Monday.
