Wildcat bus strike to protest police action

Bus communications of Dhaka with northern districts were disrupted partially and greater Mymensingh totally for hours yesterday as transport owners and workers began a wildcat strike protesting misuse of power by policemen.

The workers stopped plying buses from Mohakhali bus terminal at 8:00pm on Monday, but the strike was overwhelming since early morning Tuesday. The strike was, however, withdrawn at 1:00pm after police authorities announced that two sergeants have been closed.

Hundreds of passengers remained stranded at Mohakhali and bus terminals in various districts for hours.
