Govt schools start selling admission forms today
Admission tests on Jan 1, 3, 5


The government schools in the city will start selling admission forms today for the next academic year with the guardians apprehending a tough battle for admission.

The distribution of forms will continue until December 27 and the admission tests will be held on January 1, 3 and 5. The 24 government high schools in the city have been divided into three groups, each comprising eight schools, for holding the tests.

Under group-A, Government Laboratory School, Mirpur Government High School, Motijheel Government Girls High School, Khilgaon Government High School, Islamia Government High School, Nawabpur Government High School, Mohammadpur Government High School and New Government Girls High School will hold admission test on January 1.

The admission test of group-B schools will be held on January 3. The schools are Motijheel Government Boys High School, Narinda Government High School, Government Muslim High School, Banglabazar Government Girls High School, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government Boys High School, Government Science High School, Dhanmondi Government Girls High School and Dhanmondi Kamrunessa Government Girls High School.

The schools in the group-C -- Dhanmondi Government Boys High School, Armanitola Government High School, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government Girls High School, Tikatuli Kamrunessa Government Girls High School, Tejgaon Government Girls High School, Dhaka Collegiate School, Ganobhaban Government High School, Tejgaon Government . High School will hold admission test on January 5.

Admission forms for class I to VIII will be sold from the schools, depending on availability of seats.

The schools will hold 100-mark admission test on three subjects -- Bangla, English and mathematics. Last year the number of seats vacant in the 24 schools were 8,591 and 38,218 students took part in the admission battle.

The number of available seats this year could not be known but sources at the schools said the number will be the same as last year's.

"The number of admission seekers may be higher this year as many students will take part in all the three groups' admission tests," said a member of the admission committee of government schools in the city.

The sale of admission forms of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College will be closed today. This year eight forms have been sold against each seat in class-I. Last year six students compete for one seat in this leading private school.

Distribution of forms for Viqarunnisa's Azimpur branch will start on December 18. Guardians will have to collect the admission forms for class I to VIII from the school's Bailey Road campus from 9:00am to 1:00pm every day.

The distribution of admission forms for class I at Motijheel Ideal School is going on. The admission test will be held on December 24.
