Mourning Rafa stays in Japan

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has decided to remain in Japan despite the death of his father and a tribute will be held before Sunday's World Club Championship final, FIFA president Sepp Blatter said.

Benitez was reported to be agonising over whether to leave Japan and fly home to Madrid to join his family, but has decided to stay.

British newspaper reports said it was his family's wish that he remain with the club to win yet another title,

Blatter said here that a "special tribute" will be held before The Reds play South American champions Sao Paulo in Yokohama on Sunday.

A FIFA spokesman told AFP it would likely be a minute's silence.

His father Francisco, 74, died on Wednesday in the Spanish capital after a long heart illness.
