JCD men beat up customs staff over tender deadline

A group of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists yesterday beat three customs officials up and ransacked the office of customs superintendent at Satkhira over tender.

The injured officials are Satkhira Customs Superintendent Hemayet Uddin, Head-clerk Aminur Rahman and Office Assistant Noor-e-Alam.

The JCD activists led by former JCD leader Masum Billah Shaheen went to the customs superintendent's office and asked the superintendent to extend the time for submitting tender bids by one hour. Being refused they attacked the three officials and ransacked the office.

The police and customs officials said the customs department had invited tender bids to sell some non-perishable goods and the bid submission was to end at 1:00pm yesterday.
