Building material show ends on low note
Star Business Report
With little response from visitors, 'Building Material Exhibition-2005' concluded in Dhaka yesterday. A total of 20 building material manufacturers, suppliers, and importers participated in the three day fair at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel. Institute of Architect Bangladesh (IAB) organised the 10th version of the exhibition. Participants displayed products such as aluminum and wooden door, aluminum products, glass, metal accessories, interior products, power generator, and electric circuit in the fair. Participants said the exhibition was organised to get attention of professionals such as architects, engineers and real estate businesspeople. But the presence of the visitors was not notable, they added. They said the on-going Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) is the main reason behind the poor response. "We received around Tk 1 lakh spot order in the fair, which was double in the last year's fair," said Md Quamruddoza, an official of Otobi Ltd. "We displayed our low-cost power generation products and some energy savings lamps. But we received lacklustre response," said a sales officer of Energypac Power Generation Ltd. Among others, Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd, Aqua Paints, Mirpur Ceramic Works Ltd, Star Partical Board Mills Ltd, Carona International, Interior Plus, Furniture Depot, Kai Bangladesh Aluminum Ltd, Interior World and Shafi Enterprise, and Nasir Glass Industries Ltd took part in the fair.
