Non-govt pry teachers demand nationalisation of jobs

Members of the Bangladesh Non-government Primary School Teachers' Association wearing shrouds staged a demonstration in the city yesterday demanding nationalisation of non-government primary schools and jobs of the teachers. The police intercepted them at Muktangan in the city when they tried to proceed in a procession to lay siege to the PM's office to realise their demands. Earlier, they at a rally at Muktangan said the ruling BNP in its election manifesto committed to nationalise the jobs of non-government primary school teachers but the pledge is yet to be implemented even after four years of its power. Mohammad Shamsul Alam, president of the Non-government Primary School Teachers Association, said they will not leave streets until their demand is fulfilled. He said, "If our demand is not met the PM will be shown black flags during her visit to different areas of the country on election campaign." General Secretary Abdur Rahman Bachchu, Vice-President Abu Mohammad Sayed, Organising Secretary Mrigen Mohan Saha were present at the programme.
