Procession protests militancy

Different social, cultural and human rights organisations under the banner of Bikkhubdha Deshbasi (aggrieved countrymen) yesterday brought out a procession from the Central Shaheed Minar protesting extreme communalism and countrywide bomb blasts.

Parading some city streets, the procession ended at Muktangon in the city at 10:30am.

The participants vowed to protect the dignity of the national flag and resist "the defeated forces in the Liberation War of 1971" who are "today's bomb attackers".

Bikkhubdha Deshbasi comprising Ain O Salish Kendra, Karmajibi Nari, Nijera Kori, Udichi Shilpi Gosthy, Prothom Alo Bondhu Sava and members of the civil society took part in the procession.

Sultana Kamal, Khushi Kabir, and actress Kabori Sarwar were among the participants.

On December 14, the Martyred Intellectuals Day, Bikkhubdha Deshbasi announced that they will bring out a flag procession from the Jatiya Shaheed Minar on every Friday morning till March 26 of the next year.
