BDR pushes back 13 Indians

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) on Thursday night pushed back the 13 Bangla-speaking Indians pushed into Bangladesh by Border Security Force (BSF) the same day.

The BSF pushed the 13 into Bangladesh through the Kalindi river, while the BDR pushed them back through Durmuzkhali border in Shyamnagar upazila.

The Indians are Abdul Haq, Rizia Begum, Fazila Khatun, Hassan, Russell, Golam Rasul, Sirajul Islam, Oviran Nesa, Hafiz, Ayub, Rafiqul, Ali Hassan and Akram, all from South 24 Parganas in West Bengal.

Quoting them, the BDR said the Indian border guards gathered the victims on the border and forced them to cross the river by a boat at Koikhali.

The on duty BDR men detained them as soon as they entered Bangladesh.

Contacted, 7 Rifles Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Col Golam Hossain Sarkar confirmed the incident.
