IOM clinic to check UK visa seekers' health

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) yesterday inaugurated the first of three IOM clinics in the city in association with Medinova Medical Services Limited under the United Kingdom Pre-Departure Tuberculosis (TB) Detection Programme.Under the programme all UK visa applicants of Bangladesh (except visitors and short-term students) aged 11 years or older for a stay of longer than 6 months must apply to IOM clinics for a health certificate confirming that they are free from infectious TB, says a press release. The contact numbers for IOM clinics in Dhaka are Medinova Medical Services Ltd, 8620353-7 or 8624907-10, ext 309. The other two clinics in Sylhet and Chittagong will be inaugurated on January 5 and 8. IOM's Health Physician-Consultant Dr Frank Gutmann formally inaugurated the clinic, while Regional Representative for South Asia Shahidul Haque, Medinova Chairman Mozammel Hossain and Director of Visa Services of British High Commission to Bangladesh Lawson Ross were present.
