Four-day PWD conference begins


The annual conference of the Public Works Department (PWD) began at the Purta Bhaban in the city yesterday with a call to implement different projects within the stipulated time.

About 200 field-level engineers and officials, apart from the high-ups of PWD and their parent departments, are taking part in the four-day conference.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, Housing and Public Works Minister Mirza Abbas stressed the need for ensuring the quality of development projects and transparency of project work and implementing those within the stipulated time.

PWD Chief Engineer AFM Monjurul Islam chaired the session while Secretary of the public works ministry Iqbal Uddin Chowdhury was present as special guest.

The conference will focus on an array of issues over the next three days.
