Speaker leaves for Singapore for treatment

Speaker Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar left Saturday night for Singapore for medical check-up following his treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here.Deputy Speaker Akhter Hamid Siddiqui told UNB that the Speaker, who underwent heart surgery, is expected to return home on January 20. Asked if the Indian Lok Sava Speaker Somnath Chatterjee's visit would be rescheduled, Siddiqui said that after the return of the Speaker, a fresh invitation would be sent to him. Indian Lok Sava Speaker was earlier scheduled to arrive in the capital this week on a four-day visit.
