9th Dhaka International Film Festival to begin
The 9th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) organised by Rainbow Film Society (RFS) will be held in Dhaka from January 17 to 25, 2006, says a press release. M Morshed Khan, foreign minister, Peoples' Republic Of Bangladesh, will inaugurate the festival on January 17 at the Shahid Zia Auditorium, National Museum. Over the years RFS has been organising the festival dedicated to the promotion of a healthy cine-culture in Bangladesh. In a span of thirteen years, DIFF has attained international recognition with eight festivals. DIFF intends to screen around 200 films from 30 countries, including Bangladesh. Renowned cultural personalities, journalists, filmmakers, artistes and diplomats are expected to attend the festival. Director Kambozia Partovi's film Café Transit will be screened at the inaugural session.
