The arrestee was identified as Shahadat Hossain, 20, son of late Sayeeduzzaman of Char Jhakalia under the upazila.

Being tipped-off, police arrested Shahadat at Katiadi Bazar and recovered a gun and six bullets from his village home.

On his confessional statement, the law enforcers recovered one foreign pistol, a home-made gun, and five bullets from a house of Shahadat's relative at Bhuran-garchar village in Sadar upazila yesterday morning.

Police said Shahadat confessed to his involvement in arms trading.
