Bidisha-backed JP men hold rally defying Sec 144

Jatiya Party leaders and activists backed by Bidisha and Shafiul Alam Pradhan yesterday held a rally under the banner of Gonotantrik Dhara on Panchagarh-Tetulia Highway, defying the Section-144.Panchagarh district administration declared the section 144 as both JP factions led by Ershad and Bidisha called simultaneous rallies at Sher-e-Bangla Park in the town. Police yesterday intercepted a procession of the JP faction marching towards the park. The leaders and activists held the rally on the highway instead of the main venue. JP leaders Pradhan, Bidisha, lawmaker Monoranjan Shil Gopal, among others, addressed the rally within a police cordon. Central members of Jatiya Party Gonotantrik Dhara Anisur Rahman, Sardar Shajahan, Rehana Pradhan, Mohiuddin Bablu, Tapan Chakrabarti, Asadur Rahman Asad, Saiful Alam, among others, were present.
