JFA Cup finals from today


The final round of the 2nd JFA Cup Under-16 Football Tournament begins today at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Rangamati face Dhaka in the inaugural match at 2.30 pm in Group-A while Gaibandha meet Bagerhat in the day's second match at the same venue at 3.45 pm.

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is organising the tournament with the financial assistance of the Japan Football Association (JFA).

Member of the International Committee of JFA Ichiro Fujita will inaugurate the final round as the chief guest.

The JFA will provide Tk 16,80,000 out of the total Tk 18,00,000 budget, told tournament committee chairman and BFF vice-president Abdur Rahim at a press conference at the BFF Bhaban on Friday.

Ichiro Fujita, BFF vice-president Sirajul Islam Bachchu and general secretary Anwarul Hoque Helal were present.

A total of eight teams will compete in the final round of the tournament with Kurigram, Satkhira, Tangail and Narayanganj drawn in Group-B.

Top two teams of each group will play in the semifinals. The final is slated for January 31.

A total of 57 teams participated in the qualifying rounds at eight venues.
