Zia shares third place

Bangladesh Grand Master Ziaur Rahman was sharing the third place with four others at the end of the eighth round of the Parsvnath International Open Chess Tournament in New Delhi on Friday.FIDE Master Alexei Fedorov led the table with 7.5 points, followed by GM Pavel Kotsur of Kazakhstan and IM Satyaprajah of India with seven points. Zia, who beat International Master R Laxman in the eighth round, stretched his collection to 6.5 points. Fellow GM Niaz Murshed and IM Abdullah Al Rakib, who drew their respective matches, were closely following with six points while IM Enamul Hossain Rajib and FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed were on 5.5 points. Nasir defeated Ashwani, Taibur beat Nireej while Rajib, Parag, Shakil and Emon all lost their boards.
