Dec 8 Blast At Netrakona
'Authorities delaying charge framing'


Police did not submit the charge sheet of December 8 bomb blast although one and a half months passed after the incident.

An high police official of Netrakona police, seeking anonymity, told this correspondent everything is ready for submission of charge sheet but it is being delayed following an order of the higher authorities.

Eight people were killed and 50 others including 10 policemen were injured in an attack by the suicide squad of banned Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in front of Udichi office on Azahar Road in the town on December 8..

Two cases were filed by police, one for killing and the other one under Explosives Acts. Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Alauddin is the Investigation Officer (IO) of the cases. He said to this correspondent that he along with Netrakona Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Samiul Alam went to Dhaka a few days ago to interrogate arrested JMB Majlish-e-Sura member Ataur Rahaman Sunny. During interrogation, Sunny confessed his involved with the bomb blast incident. He also confessed that he and JMB chief Abdur Rahman and Siddikur Rahman Bangla Bhai jointly sent the mission to kill the Superintendent of Police of Netrakona and other police personnel. Alauddin further told that they got important information from Sunny which will be helpful to submit charge sheet of December 8 bomb blast here.

According to Sunny's confession, two influential Jamaat leaders and four Chhatra Shibir leaders are also involved in the bomb blast.

When contacted, Netrakona OC Samiul Alam told this correspondent, 'We got sufficient information from Sunny and investigation is going on according to his statement.’
