Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) MA Aziz's meeting with the visiting European Union (EU) team has been cancelled as the CEC fell sick and was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMUH) yesterday. The health minister went to see Aziz at the BSMMUH, a handout said last night. However, the CEC was not found in his cabin and it was locked at 9:00pm. The on-duty officials said he had left the hospital after receiving therapy. When contacted at his residence over telephone, the calls were repeatedly cut off after knowing that they were from the media. Meanwhile, sources said the CEC got admitted to hospital as he did not want to meet the visiting EU troika. The CEC came to his office yesterday morning and left early after cancelling his appointment with the delegation on health grounds. The delegation was scheduled to meet the CEC today and hold discussion about the preparation for the next parliamentary election.
