Sister files GD against SQ Chy for 'threat'

Sister of Salauddin Qader Chowdhury filed a general diary (GD) with Gulshan Police Station on Tuesday stating that her brother threatened her over phone not to come to Bangladesh when she was in US.

Popy, the sister of Salauddin Qader Chowdhury, parliamentary affairs adviser to the prime minister, on Tuesday filed the GD after she came to Bangladesh.

SQ Chowdhury made a phone call to her when she was in US and asked her not to come to Bangladesh, Poly said in the GD.

She was also told to seek police protection if she comes to the country.

Popy submitted a compact disc containing the conversation between the two.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gulshan Police Station Mahbubur Rahman admitted the GD.

Asked if he conducted any investigation into the matter, the OC said, "She only informed the police about the matter. There is nothing much to investigate here."

Meanwhile, Beximco Holdings filed a case against three brothers of Salauddin Qader Chowdhury -- Giyasuddin Qader Chowdhury, Saifuddin Qader Chowdhury and Jamaluddin Qader Chowdhury -- on charges of misappropriating Tk 95 crore of QC Container Lines Limited on December 15 last year.

The hearing on the case is scheduled to be held in the High Court today.
