Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi farmer at Chakpara frontier in Shibganj upazila of the district early yesterday.The dead was identified as Kamaluddin, 33, son of Irfan Ali of Bagichapara village in the upazila. Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) sources said the Indian border guards opened fire on Kamal while he was irrigating his paddy field near pillar no182, killing him on the spot. Later, the BSF men took away the body. BDR protested the killing and sent a letter to its Indian counterpart demanding immediate return of the body. The killing of a Bangladeshi by the BSF occurred in the frontier district only a day after the commander-level flag meeting between the BDR and the BSF at Maldah in India on Monday.
