The Meril Cup Media Football Tournament reached the quarterfinal stage after the group matches ended yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

All four quarterfinals will be played today at the same venue with reigning champions Jugantor pitted against Ajker Kagoj in the first match. Bhorer Kagoj meet Samakal, Channel i face Janakantha while Sangbad play RTV in other last eight clashes.

RTV were the last team to progress in the seven-a-side tournament yesterday, thanks to The Daily Star's coming-from-behind 2-1 win over BSS. Man-of-the-match Amit struck both the goals for Star, who played with one man short. However the victory was not enough for them to advance to the knockout stage as they lost their first game to RTV.

In other matches, Ajker Kagoj beat UNB 3-1, Sangbad thrashed

Observer 4-1, Samakal edged New Nation 1-0 while Janakantha also won by a solitary goal against Financial Express.
