Bangladesh Bank Governor Salehuddin Ahmed formally inaugurated the new service at a function in Dhaka.

The service will enable customers to check account balance, stop a cheque payment or even get statements through SMS.

Premier Bank customers who want to get access to SMS banking will need to register with the service.

Premier Bank's high officials were also present at the function.
