CPB demands white paper on NAM flats

Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) yesterday protested the decision of changing the names of allottees of NAM flats and demanded publishing of white paper on allotment of the flats."People have the right to know, who are the owners of the NAM flats," CPB General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim told a meeting of the party at its central office in the city. Selim criticised the government for what he said failure to control the prices of essentials, including sugar. Common people are helpless as plunderers are controlling the markets through syndicates, he said. Party leader Ruhin Hossain Prince presided over the meeting while Abdul Malek, Chandan Sidhanta, Jali Talukder and Chandan Saha Roy also addressed. The CPB meeting called upon the people to resist militants, bombers and communal elements. UNB adds: CPB yesterday condemned Thursday's police attack on stranded Pakistanis in the city. In a joint statement, CPB President Manzurul Ahsan Khan and General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim demanded punishment to the police officers responsible for the attack. They also demanded proper compensation for the injured and repatriation of the stranded Pakistanis.
