Anwar, Ruhitpur Union Jubo League president and a UP member, died at a city hospital a day after he was stabbed by the supporters of UP Chairman and BNP leader Kamal Uddin on Wednesday.

At a protest meeting on the ground of Ruhitpur High School, convener of Keraniganj AL Nasrul Hamid Bipu said the alliance government is resorting to killing, repression and false case to stifle the ongoing democratic movement led by AL President Sheikh Hasina.

But the government will be toppled soon in the face of people's movement, he said.

He also called on the government to bring the killers to book within 24 hours. Otherwise the people of Keraniganj will launch a tougher agitation, he warned.

Ruhitpur AL Convenor Madar Hossain presided over the protest meeting.

Son of Anwar Hossain and Assistant Secretary of Keranigang Thana Chhatra League Shah Ali, Organising Secretary of Gono Forum Mostofa Mohsin Manto, AL leaders Md Mahbubur Rahman, Abdul Jabbar, Mohammad Salim and Haji Md Abu Siddique, Jubo League leaders Eusuf Ali Chowdhury Selim, Shafiul Azam and Sohel Kajol, Krishak League leader Sohrab Hossain Khokon, Shechhashebak League leader Md Ansar Uddin and Chhatra League leader Shahedul Haque Shaheed also spoke.
