Three killed in Ctg road accident


Three people, including two of a family, were killed in a road accident at Sadhanpur of Banskhali upazila, some 30 km off the port city yesterday afternoon.

The dead were identified as Sajeda Begum, 30, and her 18-month-old son Bulbul Akhter of village Raichara under Khankanabad union and their relative Monwara Begum, 33, of Bagawanpara under Kalipur union of the upazila.

The accident occurred when the trio were going to Banskhali by an auto-rickshaw. A speedy brick-laden truck hit the auto-rickshaw from behind at Sadhanpur at around 2:00 pm, killing the three passengers on the spot.

The driver narrowly escaped but was hurt seriously and the auto-rickshaw was smashed.

Local people seized the truck but the driver managed to escape.
