Amzad, Hafiz FERB chairman, executive director


Mollah Amzad Hossain, editor of Energy & Power magazine, and Mahmud Hafiz, senior reporter of the daily Janakantha, have been elected chairman and executive director of Forum for Energy Reporters' Bangladesh (FERB).

The election to the board of directors was held at the Jatiya Press Club yesterday.

Other office-bearers are: Vice-Chairman: Mostafa Firoz (NTV), Director (Development & Finance): Sabuj Yunus (Samakal), Director (Training & Research): Sadrul Hasan (UNB), Director (Data Bank): Sagar Sarwar (Ittefaq) and Director (Welfare): Rozina Islam (Sangbad).

Executive Committee members are: Zahid Newaz Khan Jewel (BDNEWS) and Nazmul Imam (Naya Diganta).

A total of 54 members, out of 57, cast their votes in the election.

Kazi Gofran Ahmed, former general manager of Petrobangla, Bazlur Rahman, director of Power Development Board (PDB) and Abdullah Al Shahin, senior information officer of Energy Division conducted the election.

The biennial general meeting of the FERB was held in the morning with outgoing chairman Badiul Alam in the chair.

The meeting decided to observe January 23 as "electricity day" every year commemorating the recent Kansat killings.
