Mizan Chy laid to rest in Chandpur

Veteran politician and former Prime Minister Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury was laid to rest with state honour at his family graveyard at Puranbazar in the district yesterday. His body was taken to Chandpur from Dhaka. Two namaz-e-janazas were held at Shahrasti and Hajiganj upazilas on way to Chandpur. Later, another janaza was held at the Chandpur Government College ground at 4:00pm. About 10,000 people took part in the janaza. Social and Political personalities, including MA Sultan Titu MP of Chandpur, Monirul Haque Chowdhury MP of Comilla, Dr Mahiuddin Khan Alamgir, Shafiqur Rahman Bhuiyan, deputy commissioner Taherul Islam and superintendent of police Alamgir Rahman attended the janaza. They placed wreaths at the coffin of Mizan Chowdhury to pay their last respect to the leader. A pall of gloom descended upon the entire Chandpur district at the sad demise of the veteran AL leader.
