Extortionists damage idol of Sarswati in Sirajganj

A gang of miscreants Thursday night damaged an idol of Sarswati at a temple at Chandangati Bosundhara village in Belkuchi upazila.Hindu devotees said, the miscreants demanded illegal toll from the puja committee members. But they refused to give them toll. Following their refusal, the miscreants entered the temple, ransacked the puja mandap and damaged the idol of Swaraswati at around 9.30 pm. After the incident, Hindu devotees stopped the puja. Being informed, Belkuchi police visited the spot.
