Cascarino repeats Marseille doping accusations

Former Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino on Saturday repeated accusations that he and Marseille teammates regularly received injections with unknown substances during his time at the French club in the early 1990s."I don't know what it was but I'm 99 percent sure it wasn't legal. There was something not clean about it," Cascarino told the French sports daily L'Equipe. Cascarino, who won 88 Irish caps, was a member of the Republic's 1990 and 1994 World Cup squads and scored 61 goals in his two seasons for Marseille after joining the club in 1994. He made his initial accusations of receiving injections at the behest of former club president Bernard Tapie in a column for The Times in December 2003. Tapie strenuously denied the accusations.
