Anwar Killing
Family accuses Keraniganj OC of delaying in filing case

Family members of slain Keraniganj Jubo League leader Anwar Hossain yesterday accused the acting officer-in-charge (OC) of Keraniganj Police Station of dillydallying in registering a case against the killers.

Anwar, also a Ruhitpur Union Parishad member, was critically injured in an attack allegedly by the supporters of UP Chairman and BNP leader Kamal Uddin on Wednesday. He died at a city hospital the next day.

Anwar's brother said he went to Keraniganj Police Station soon after the attack to file a case, but Acting OC Mostafizur Rahman declined to register it.

After the death of Anwar, his relatives again went to the police station to file a case against the attackers. The OC kept the papers related to the case but did not register any case, they said.

The also accused that the OC is harassing them in different ways.

When contacted, the OC said the case has been filed. But the duty officer said no such case has been filed.
