Lara rubbishes retirement talk

Star West Indies batsman Brian Lara has dismissed speculation he would retire after winning a first-class title with his native Trinidad and Tobago.

"People are always asking me when? When? I say, 'You tell me," he said.

Lara, Test cricket's leading scorer, is to miss the forthcoming one-day series in New Zealand to focus on Tests.

Lara said he would enjoy the annual Trinidad carnival instead, adding: "I will have a chance to jump up and down and enjoy myself."

The West Indies one-day team leave for New Zealand on Tuesday, playing a Twenty20 international and five 50-over games.
