Hanif suffers heart attack at rally, in critical state

Former Dhaka City Corporation mayor and also the city unit Awami League (AL) President Mohammad Hanif was admitted to Birdem Hospital after suffering a heart attack yesterday afternoon.Hanif fell down on the podium while addressing a 14-party opposition demonstration at city's Muktangon at about 5:30pm. He was taken to the cardiac centre of Birdem Hospital immediately. Doctors have termed his condition 'very critical' and he has been kept on artificial life-support. Hanif, a senior AL leader, has long been suffering from heart ailments. Leader of the Opposition and AL Chief Shiekh Hasina and senior 14-party leaders went to the hospital to see him. AL leaders and workers of different city ward units and thousands of supporters also thronged the hospital after hearing the news.
