PM sees more 'conspiracies' by a political party

Apprehending further political plots during the remaining period of her government by a certain party, Prime Minister Khaleda Zia yesterday said her government along with the people will foil all conspiracies to maintain the tempo of development.

"They (indicating her political opponent) will hatch conspiracy during the remaining months of the tenure of the coalition government. But people will remain with us," Khaleda, also chairperson of the ruling BNP, told a public meeting at Pirojpur Government High School ground.

She urged people to vote for BNP and its alliance in 2007 general elections to maintain the ongoing trend of development as well as implement the new development programmes taken up by the coalition rulers.

Listing her government's development activities, she said massive development activities have been carried out in all sectors for people's welfare.

The prime minister said when the country was advancing on all fronts, a party resorted to destructive activities and cooked up various conspiracies to obstruct the country's development and push the country backward.

She said communal harmony is prevailing in Bangladesh with people of all faiths living peacefully, performing their religious rituals and festivals. She cited Ramadan and puja observed simultaneously without any unwanted happenings along the communal line.

The prime minister alleged that they (AL) had wanted to destroy the education system in a planned way so aliens could capture all the important jobs keeping country's people subservient. She urged people to remain alert about the party.

Earlier, the prime minister inaugurated Pirojpur Juba Unnoyan Kendra, 100-seat hospital and nursing institute and Pirojpur Shilpakala Academy.
